• By bus: From Vientiane (Northern bus station) to Luang Namtha via Luang Prabang takes about 24 hours.
• By bus/minivan from Houay Xai to Luang Namtha about 2.5 hours at 45,000 LAK a seat.
• From Luang Namtha small buses depart one time per day 09:30 at 25,000 LAK a seat.

There are 5 guesthouses and more than 40 beds in town varying in standard and prices between 30,000 - 50,000 LAK.

Where to eat?
There are more than 7 restaurants around the town, serving local, Lao and Thai food. In the morning people from the rural villages come to the town and sell local foods and forest products.
